Down memory lane

On an unusually boring Tuesday night, I decided to clean up inbox from all unwanted junk/old mails. I go to the last page of my inbox and realise that 2005 was when I last cleared my inbox to start with. I select all mails and am almost about to click on "Delete". But hey, no! A voice from within asked me to read those mails before deleting them.
I opened the last mail (dated 2nd Jan 2005). Voila! I was transported back in time! An e-mail from a small girl (then) asking how her Gautam chettan was :) Man, was I happy. There were so many e-mails from that little kid about her school and her life in the US and so on and so forth. Her respect and her love for this big brother was soo evident in all those mails :)
And another girl who was my best friend. I had met her through an advertisement for friends in a local TV channel. We became very close in no time. As usual, life played a small trick (which still escapes my memory) and took her away. Her love, care, concern everything was there in those detailed mails which she painstakingly wrote from her slow college computer.
*** And*** Aki.. Her e-mails were quite generic then but now they hold such a special place in my life. She wrote to me when we were a kilometer away from each other, then when she went abroad, when she came back, before sleeping, after coming back from college, when i came home for my vacations..GOD!
My girlfriend. Her initial mails to me when we were good friends, when we became close friends, best friends. And then.....................
I had soo many people then in life. So many! I just cannot believe I forgot about them for so long.
How did all this escape me for so long? Where are they now? What are they doing now? I think its time I bring them back from the depths of oblivion and never lose them again :)

loved reading it da.. the way you portrayed the emotions for those unknown friends was brilliant.. melancholy is the best state for someone to write, cos it depicts some of those close observations on life and your relationships.. keep blogging!!

I know what u mean. I end up cleaning my mail box once every 4-5 years. Isn't it amusing to see how much even u have changed over the years- have a look at the sent folder also next time round :) I always do that.

@ Aki - Thanks a lot for your comment. Yes, I mentioned your name in the least because no words can now describe what we shared 3 years back. As they say, some things are better left unsaid
